Overview

UKTV Play is a free video streaming platform that provides video content with pre-roll and mid-roll advertisements. To aid the growth of UKTV Play, the platformed needed an update to its interface to support additional monetisation streams for UKTV Play.

The Brief

Update UKTV Play's user interface to incorporate a sponsorship badge, ensuring that it does not cause a negative impact on the viewers' experience.

Deliverables

  • The badge should appear in multiple placements on the home screen to maximise the visibility of the sponsor. These include:

    • Navigation sponsor - all platforms

    • Rail sponsor -all platforms

    • Sponsored banner - Web and App

    • Launch screen - CTV and App

Discovery

I collaborated with product mangers, advertising, back end and front end developers in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the limitations pertaining to the design of the sponsorship badge. By working within these constraints I had to establish a series of designs and a set of guidance, which would guaranteed a consistency and a harmonious visual design across mobile, desktop, and connected TV platforms.

Challenges

  • Placement

The logo placement needed to be clearly visible while ensuring that it did not obstruct or interfere with the overall user interface.

  • Logo dimensions and style

In order to accommodate any type of sponsor logo on UKTV Play's platform, we determined clear space measurements that would be adaptable. This involved using a single image across all platforms while ensuring it remained proportionate.
